The Eating Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to provide comprehensive, structured treatment for individuals struggling with eating disorders who require more support than traditional outpatient therapy, but who do not need inpatient or residential care. The program is intended to help participants move toward recovery while maintaining daily life responsibilities such as work, school, and family involvement.
Our IOP utilizes a holistic, trauma-informed, and integrative approach that considers the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors contributing to disordered eating. Treatment draws from evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as experiential, and body-based practices.
The program integrates systemic and functional medicine principles to address root causes of disordered eating, including nutritional imbalances, stress physiology, and the mind-body connection. The goal is to promote physical stabilization, emotional healing, and sustainable recovery through individualized, compassionate care.
Program components may include:
Individual therapy to address personal challenges, trauma, and recovery goals
Group therapy to develop coping skills, connection, and peer support
Nutrition counseling with a nutrition professional to restore balanced eating and support medical stabilization
Supportive meals with staff guidance to practice nourishment and reduce anxiety around food
Yoga and mindfulness practices to strengthen the mind-body connection and support regulation
Family or support sessions as clinically indicated to enhance the recovery environment
The IOP meets 3 days per week, for 3 hours per day. Each participant receives an individualized treatment plan tailored to their specific goals and recovery stage and will participate in individual therapy 1 hour per week.
